When a newborn baby comes into the world, there are often desires on the part of the parents, family and friends to welcome and acknowledge the child’s entrance into the world. A baby blessing or baby welcoming ritual can be an opportunity to not only welcome this new little being, but it can also be a time that the parents and individual members of the family or community can make their commitments of love and support that they would like to offer to the child.

What You Can Expect
-a baby blessing can be created that is unique to your wishes and that represents the varied beliefs about life that may be held by the respective family members.

-the child being welcomed or blessed can be up to 1 year old.

-the event will be between 10-25 minutes depending on the content and rituals you choose.

-you choose the location. It is best held indoors, but can be appropriately performed outdoors given a somewhat small and supportive environment such as a gazebo or patio.

-if there are family members or friends under the age of 12, it is most supportive to have someone other than the new parents to look after them during the event.

The most important aspect of the event is that you as parents feel that your child has been officially welcomed or blessed.
