Jani Ashmore was born in Denver, Colorado, the
youngest of four children in her family. Within the first six months
of her life, the family moved to their first dairy farm in the countryside
north east of Denver. They lived on several different farms until
she was 9 when they settled onto one piece of land where her parents
lived until they retired.
Being raised on a farm gave Jani an appreciation
for and connection with nature that remains with her today.
She was also given a strong set of values,
an appreciation for the higher creative forces, and a loving family
environment that has provided a stable foundation for life. Her
family remains an important part of her life today.
Evidence of Janis strive
for achievement was first seen at 7 years of age when she
won an award at a state level for a sewing project in a rural organization
called Grange. She went on to receive top awards in 4-H, as well
as top positions in a spiritual organization called Rainbow Girls
(a branch of Eastern Star and Masons). During her school years she
was a majorette, in school plays, held offices in the Pep Club and
was a pompom girl. In retrospect, Jani now sees the consistent
thread that drew her to positions of leadership
which often times put her in a position of being a model
for others. This was challenging for Jani to be seen as a
model since much of her young life she battled with low self-esteem.
She attended Colorado State University where she
studied Data Processing/Computers. After receiving a degree, she
began a career in business that allowed her to gain experience in
technical positions, management, sales and support, training, coaching
and consulting. She began her career at a time when it was less
common than it is today for women to be in business. This provided
her with experience of being on what some call the leading
edge but what she sometimes saw as the bleeding edge.
She related to the line from the movie Steel Magnolias, What
doesnt kill us makes us stronger!
Jani married while in college and gave birth to
her daughter the following year. In addition to having the deep
bond that can exist between a mother and daughter, the two of them
worked throughout their lives to maintain a clean and healthy relationship.
Many have remarked over the years what an inspiring
relationship she has with her daughter. Her daughter is now
married and recently gave birth to a baby girl. Being a grandparent
has brought a new depth of joy and love to Janis life and
a new addition to the legacy of her and her daughters relationship.
They are currently working together on a childrens book that
is based on their three generations.

For the past 25 years, Jani has had a keen
interest in the behavioral sciences and human potential.
In addition to other specific technologies, Jani has studied Neuro
Linguistic Programming and is a certified NLP Practitioner. As a
test of her own human potential, she has accomplished a black
belt in Karate, completed the San Francisco marathon,
and has proven herself as a firewalker.
Jani has been an organizer and speaker for
international peace conferences in Costa Rica, Egypt, Eastern
Europe, and the U.S. She also has been a part of projects related
to ending hunger in Africa, Russia, and the U.S. Her commitment
to improving the quality of life for all people has directed her
to the work she is doing today.
As a young child, Janis family attended church on a regular
basis. Frustrated with the confines of a single organized religion,
she found herself studying a variety of religions
and interested in expanding awareness through additional means of
personal development. Her commitment to her
own growth and spirituality has taken her to over 30 countries
to learn about other cultures and religions.
Today, in addition to being a personal
and professional coach, she practices being a Celebrant,
someone who officiates weddings, baby blessings and memorials. To
her it is a form of ministry that allows her to creatively write,
speak, and consult/coach individuals, couples, and families. At
the foundation of her ceremonies is the value of staying
open and connected at the heart with not only those who are
closest to us, but all of mankind.
Currently, Jani is living a disciplined life
style that includes regular exercise, a healthful food plan,
and daily spiritual practices. She has found that this attention
to a balanced life has brought energy, vitality, peace and joy.
The experience of living life in this way and what it takes to do
this is part of what allows Jani to be available to others as a
caring and sensitive Celebrant as well what she has to offer individuals
as a Professional Coach and a Personal Consultant.
Only as high as I reach
can I grow.
Only as far as I seek
can I go.
Only as deep as I look
can I see.
Only as much as I dream
can I be.
